The TimeXtender Monitoring Dashboard

The TimeXtender Monitoring Dashboard

To improve the continuity of a TimeXtender environment, it's helpful to have a dashboard specifically designed for monitoring this environment. This way you prevent issues and incidents. That's why E-mergo developed the TimeXtender Monitoring Dashboard. In this blog, support manager Calvin Bergkamp tells you more about this dashboard.

Getting started with TimeXtender

From the moment you acquire TimeXtender, you get to work with your data. You connect your data sources and try to gather as much data as possible that you can later use in your data models. Once you've unlocked the most important data sources, you move on to other sources. More and more requests keep coming in from different departments, asking whether you can also unlock that one really important data source.

Of course, this isn't a problem! You bring in the data and create new endpoints to help your colleagues. Everyone's happy, until at some point the executions start to fail. More and more errors appear when loading the data, and you start to lose the overview. Fix one problem, and another error appears. Your executions have by now started to overlap due to the increased load times, and the server is no longer sized for the amount of data you're trying to load.

The TimeXtender Monitoring Dashboard

Naturally, you want to stay ahead of these issues. Our experience shows that incidents regularly arise that could have been prevented. Many incidents can already be discovered at an earlier stage, because they've already had an effect on, for example, load times. In addition, there are also incidents that recur regularly. A temporary fix is often found, but as soon as the patch comes off again, the incident resurfaces.

To improve the continuity of the TimeXtender environment, we developed a dashboard specifically designed for monitoring your TimeXtender environment. This dashboard provides insight into the performance of TimeXtender projects at various levels of detail. This dashboard is offered as part of the support agreements for customers whose TimeXtender environment we manage. We will periodically analyze the app in order to reduce the number of incidents in the future. But this dashboard is not only relevant for these customers. It can also be a great support for your own TimeXtender environment.

This dashboard offers a number of insights that help prevent problems, or analyze problems if they do unfortunately occur. Some of these insights can newly be obtained with the dashboard, while others can simply be obtained more easily.

With this dashboard you can:

  • Gain insight into the variation in your load times: This dashboard offers a detailed overview of load times, allowing you to identify patterns and variations. By analyzing historical load time data, you can optimize your scheduling and anticipate possible performance challenges.
  • Analyze the effect of growing datasets: You can now closely monitor the performance of your system as datasets grow. This allows you to identify trends and proactively adjust resources to safeguard the continuity of your processes.
  • Make a well-considered decision to schedule your new executions: Using predictive analytics, the dashboard provides insight into the expected impact of new executions. This allows you to make decisions based on data and improve the efficiency of your execution planning.
  • Identify potential problems before they become incidents: The dashboard surfaces warnings and notifications to identify deviations and possible problems at an early stage. This allows you to prevent potential incidents and minimize risks.

With this dashboard it becomes easier to:

  • Identify how you can speed up your load process: Thoroughly analyze the data to identify bottlenecks and optimize the load process. Improve the overall efficiency of your load process and increase the speed of your data processing.
  • Analyze common errors: Understand the nature and frequency of common incidents through analysis. Take proactive measures to reduce the impact of such problems and increase the reliability of your processes.
  • Identify recurring errors: Track repeated errors and implement lasting solutions to address recurring problems. Minimize the impact of these errors on your operational workflows.
  • Identify and analyze bottlenecks in your load process: Visualize and understand the bottlenecks in your load chains to optimize your workflow. By analyzing in a targeted way, you can maximize the efficiency of your data flow.
  • Check the latest status of your load chains: Receive updates on ongoing load chains and respond immediately to irregularities or delays. This allows you to intervene proactively and safeguard the consistency of your processes.
  • Gain insight into the performance of loading specific sources: Focus your attention on the performance of critical data sources. Make well-founded decisions to enable further optimization and safeguard the overall reliability of your data flows.
