CB is the intermediary between publisher and bookstore in the Netherlands: virtually all books published in the Netherlands are stocked there and can be ordered by bookstores. More than 1,000 publishers and 1,500 booksellers are affiliated with CB, which has more than 120,000 different titles in stock. A stock that generates a large amount of relevant data for publishers.
Qlik Sense helps publishers base decisions on data
"Qlik Sense's way of data modeling suited CB better," concludes Martijn Matena, Product Owner at CB. "Because Qlik Sense works very intuitively for customers, we chose it. Publishers can get insight into their performance with just a few clicks. And the licensing model fit well. That tipped the scales for us."
The Result
Insight into stock and costs
With Qlik Sense, CB's publishers receive up-to-date overviews of their sales, revenue, stock and costs. This lets them see, for example, how long their titles stay in stock, and which titles are performing well or poorly.
Better shop-floor staffing
CB also draws insights from Qlik Sense for internal use. Through analysis, CB can, for example, calculate how many people they need on the shop floor to run a particular production run. But also: if a machine stalls, Qlik Sense helps set up the process so it can be routed a different way.
Confirmation with numbers
When publishing books, CB's publishers often base their choices on experience and gut feeling, not always on data. CB can confirm or disprove that experience and gut feeling with numbers. Moreover, Qlik Sense is a very intuitive tool that helps publishers gain as much insight as possible in as little time as possible.
