Vialis is part of the traffic and rail technology group of construction group VolkerWessels. Vialis has almost 140 years of experience in designing, building and maintaining traffic systems and in managing traffic flows. Drawing on this vast knowledge and experience, both managers and individuals are guided toward innovative solutions for the smart and sustainable use of infrastructure. Vialis achieves this by researching and visualizing traffic patterns on roads, waterways and railways. That knowledge is then translated into control solutions for maximum use of the infrastructure.
The case for Vialis
A few years ago, Vialis switched to a new ERP system. During the migration, a lot of attention was paid to data entry, but less to making this data insightful. Vialis was working on improving data quality and introducing KPIs, which they wanted to visualize and present attractively and quickly. This created the need for a modern BI solution.
The Result
Data unlocked
With Qlik Sense, Vialis can visualize information, analyze data down to the smallest detail, make new connections between data, and highlight opportunities from different angles. Vialis has embarked on a journey of discovery within its own data, where it's becoming increasingly clear what information was hidden in it.
Data quality
Qlik Sense provides a single version of the truth. All data lives in one fixed place and is defined in a consistent way. Everyone looks at the same numbers and the same charts. The data prepared for data discovery covers almost all work processes across the various departments, from financial analyses to timekeeping and fault analyses. This safeguards data quality.
Unique Selling Point
Vialis benefits from Qlik Sense both inside and outside the company. For example, they won a tender thanks to Qlik Sense. "Not just our colleagues are impressed by the powerful visualizations, our clients are too. We've already won a tender because it added value for that client that we offer these visualizations" — Michiel Berkheij, Vialis
“Qlik Sense is visually really attractive, with motion and beautiful colors, which makes data come alive. The data starts to tell a story. We've learned a lot about how we organize our processes and how we can improve them. Regular use of Qlik Sense has had a positive impact on our data quality.”
