What is the Microsoft Power Platform?
The Microsoft Power Platform is a tool that allows you to renew and digitalise business processes yourself without much technical knowledge. At a time when digitalisation is becoming increasingly important, this platform offers simple solutions for working smarter and more efficiently.
What is the Microsoft Power Platform?
The Power Platform is Microsoft's low-code platform. With this platform, both employees and developers can build business solutions in a low-code way. Using the visual, easy-to-use tools, you can design apps that solve specific business problems, automate time-consuming tasks, perform data analyses, create Copilot chatbots and build portals to support customers and employees. This platform makes it easy to drive innovation and improve processes within companies.
What does the Power Platform consist of?
The Power Platform consists of several components, each fulfilling a different specific function. The Power Platform consists of the following components:
- Power Apps
- Power Automate
- Power BI
- Power Pages
- Copilot Studio

These Power Platform components integrate seamlessly with each other. They also integrate easily with other Microsoft tools and systems, such as Office 365 and Dynamics 365. This ensures a smooth and efficient working experience.
Microsoft Power Apps
Power Apps enables users to quickly build custom applications without any programming knowledge. This allows both employees and developers to create apps that are specifically tailored to the needs of their organisation. With Power Apps, simple yet powerful business applications can be developed for purposes such as data entry, workflow management and customer interaction. The apps can easily be integrated with other applications. Want to know more about the different apps you can build with Power Apps? Microsoft Power BI
Power BI is a powerful tool that allows companies to collect, analyse and visualise data to gain valuable insights. With Power BI, users can create reports, dashboards and visualisations that help them make better business decisions. The platform can connect to a wide range of data sources, both internal and external. This data can be used to develop (interactive) visualisations, even enabling real-time analysis. This allows companies to identify trends, monitor performance and make strategic decisions based on data.
Microsoft Power Automate
Power Automate is a handy tool within the Power Platform for carrying out recurring tasks and processes automatically. You can use it to create workflows that take care of things automatically, such as sending emails, updating data or submitting requests. This saves time, reduces the risk of errors and increases productivity. With a simple interface, many ready-made templates and connections to other systems, it is also suitable for people without technical knowledge. Microsoft Power Pages
Microsoft Power Pages is the newest addition to the Power Platform and was previously known as Power Apps Portals. Since its relaunch it has been a standalone component of the platform, specifically designed for building external websites for customers, partners and other users. All data is stored in Dataverse tables. Power Pages sites offer a great solution for creating external web portals aimed at customers, partners or suppliers. Power Pages sites offer built-in support for security and permissions, allowing you to easily manage access based on roles.
Copilot Studio
Copilot Studio is a recently added component of the Power Platform that enables companies to develop AI-driven copilots for a wide range of business needs. Previously known as Power Virtual Agents, copilots are virtual assistants that help carry out repetitive tasks, answer questions, provide support and even make decisions. These assistants can be integrated into apps, websites and other business processes, enabling users to work faster and more efficiently. Using advanced AI and machine learning technologies, Copilot Studio allows companies to automate and improve their processes with artificial intelligence.
Why the Microsoft Power Platform?
The Microsoft Power Platform offers a powerful set of tools that allow companies to easily build apps, automate processes and analyse data, without technical knowledge. The platform is scalable, integrates well with other Microsoft tools and external systems, and helps organisations increase productivity and reduce costs. Whether you want a simple workflow or a more complex solution, the Power Platform makes it possible to work quickly and efficiently.
Applicability of the Microsoft Power Platform
The various components of the Power Platform work together seamlessly, not only with each other but also with other Microsoft products from the Microsoft 365 stack, such as Office 365, Dynamics 365 and of course SharePoint. That is precisely the strength of the Power Platform. Microsoft has made difficult and time-consuming processes easy for the user in one fell swoop. Behind the scenes, an impressive piece of engineering makes this possible. You notice the convenience everywhere, both in the front end and in the back end. For example, you can easily add Power BI dashboards to Power Apps, and use Power Automate to schedule appointments automatically from Power Apps. It is also possible to add the chatbot functions of Copilot Studio to Power Apps.
